National Social Studies Supervisors Association

About NSSSA

The National Social Studies Supervisors Association promotes the common interest of social studies supervisors and leaders in instruction, curriculum, research, teacher training, and social action. One of our purposes is to encourage and assist in the development of sound supervisory practices that lead to the improvement of social studies instruction.

NSSSA is open to all members of NCSS who have supervisory and leadership responsibilities for social studies curriculum and instructional programs in Pre-Kindergarden through grade twelve. This includes individuals with titles such as director, department chair, curriculum coordinator, consultant, supervisor, specialist, or assistant principal. Some NSSSA members are also responsible for teacher training and preparation. Over the past thirty-eight years, NSSSA has grown to include members in nearly all fifty states and a number of other countries.

NSSSA Member Benefits:
1. Attend the annual conference, presented by outstanding leaders in the field, held each year on the Thursday before the NCSS annual conference. Attendees receive breakfast, lunch, chance for a 'drawing' prize, sponsor give-aways, and evening reception.
2. Receive two topical journals each year, published in Fall and Spring, as well as an annual directory of membership.
3. Membership is currently $35 per year and is open to all interested individuals.
